Archived Meeting Minutes for the Town of Englewood

Minutes from the Commission Meeting held on

May 2, 1995

The Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the Town of Englewood met in regular session, Tuesday, May 2, 1995 at 6:00 p.m. in the Assembly Room at City Hall.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Cass, with Commissioners Davis, Long, Brock, and Middleton present.  Invocation was given by Commissioner Davis.

Motion was then made by Middleton, seconded by Davis to approve sending someone to represent the town at the Tennessee Utility Conference in Gatlinburg June 6-7.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Middleton to appoint Bill Brown to the McMinn County Clean Commission.  All ayes.

Concerning water leak at Rick Barnett's residence;  died from lack of a motion.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Long to apply for Park Grant in the amount of $60,000.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Long, seconded by Brock to hire Robert Bell as police officer.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Middleton to make a donation of $400.00 to Overhill Tourism.  All ayes.

Exterminators for municipal building.  Tabled.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Davis to do the pump repair of the city fire truck at the Training Center in Murfreesboro.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Middleton to purchase bleachers up to $1000.00.  Two sets of three row bleachers with galvanized frames.  Davis-Aye, Long-Nay, Middleton-Aye.

The Mayor informed the Board that he would check on finding someone to do the repairs on the Municipal Swimming Pool.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Davis, that the city's Clean-up Fix-up week be April 24th through April 30th.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by long that the city purchase fertilizer and lime to seed the community park.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Davis to hire Bestever Cleaning Service to perform the janitorial services at the Municipal building.  Initial clean-up $250.  Monthly clean-up $250 each month.  All ayes.

Hiring of a police officer was tabled for the work session.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Long to hire Debbie Green as meter reader.  Al ayes.

Motion was made by Long, seconded by Davis to hire Sonny Duggan as seasonal mower.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Middleton to do a water tap at the bridge south of town where the construction is being done at the bridge.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Middleton to remove bad debts in the amount of $2910.02.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Davis to have the office staff make any adjustments necessary for monthly billing errors.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Long to adjust Jack Stratton based on his average usage, and bill the balance to the contractor that caused the leak.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Middleton to allow Dewayne Lee, with the Bible Baptist Church to hold a revival the first week in May, Monday thru Saturday at the gazebo.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Davis to adjourn the meeting.

Motion was made by Brock, seconded by Middleton to approve the Procedures for the Police Department Proceudres Manual.  All ayes

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Long to adjust billing errors for the month of April.  All ayes. 

Motion was made by Davis, seconded by Middleton to pay for the sand at the Little League ball field.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Long, to install sewer for the concession stand located at the community park.  2 septic tanks, pump and 2-inch pressure line.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Davis to allow Ed Nation to hold a tent revival at the gazebo on Main Street the week of May 7th.  All ayes.

Motion was made by Middleton, seconded by Long to adjourn the meeting.  All ayes.
