Archived Meeting Minutes for the Town of EnglewoodMinutes from the Commission Meeting held on March 9, 2009 The Board of Commissioners of the Town of Englewood met in regular session on Monday, March 9, 2009 at 6:00 PM in the community center. Invocation was given by Amos Brock. OLD BUSINESS Ordinance #03-09-09-09 Motion was made by Brock, seconded by Moses to Table the business regarding Ordinance #03-09-09-09. NEW BUSINESS February 2009 Minutes Motion was made by Brock, seconded Moses by to pass the February 2009 Minutes. Hawn Aye, Moses Aye and Brock Aye. Clean-up week Town Manager Cass discussed the clean-up week which will be the third week in April. Cass requested to know if the Board would like to recommend charging a fee for properties that have an entire dump truck load. Moses stated that he didn’t think that the town should be responsible for items in which people could easily take off themselves. Discussion will resume regarding this business at the next regular monthly board meeting. Motion was made by Brock, seconded by Moses to Table this business until the Board meeting. Hawn Aye, Moses Aye and Brock Aye. Vehicle for Utility Department The Board discussed purchasing a small pickup truck. Motion was then made by Hawn, seconded by Moses to Table this business until the next regularly scheduled board meeting. Hawn Aye, Moses Aye and Brock Aye. The Board then discussed the amount that the town would be willing to spend on the vehicle. The Board then requested for Cass to compare the price of a new pickup and one that TVA may have for sale which would have low mileage. Swimming Pool Cass discussed the loss of revenue that the Town is accruing while the pool is in operation. He stated that the loss is around $11,000.00. Cass then stated that the pool needed to be painted and that he would like to purchase a cover for the pool which would help the paint to withstand the weather. Moses then said that he would also like to do something regarding the playground equipment. The Board then agreed to spot paint the pool and get estimates for the pool to be sandblasted after this pool season. Hawn recommended getting bids for a metal roof and purchasing tables and chairs- possibly with umbrellas. Fire Department Report Fire Chief Roach read the February 2009 Fire Department report. Roach stated that the new county engines will be delivered in April. Roach then requested to know if the Board would like to purchase one of the counties older trucks. If the Board does, then a bid would need to be submitted to them. Motion was then made by Brock, seconded by Moses to submit a bid for the truck. Hawn Aye, Moses Aye and Brock Aye. Police Chief Wright read the February 2009 Police Department report. Moses then addressed the Chief about a medical call that had been called out as a county residence which was actually in the city limits. The dispatch personnel then supposedly told the officer on duty that the call was in the county. The city police officer then had to tell dispatch personnel that the residence was- in fact-in the city limits. McMinn County Paving Co.
